Description Newgate Hotel
The Quality Newcastle is located in the centre of Newcastle upon Tyne. The hotel is within walking distance of the city's bars, restaurants, nightclubs and shops as well as St. James' Park, the home of Newcastle United, and the River Tyne. There are 93 guest rooms with a rooftop restaurant and cocktail bar on the 6th floor with panoramic views across the City. Non-Smoking rooms are available on request. The Hotel attracts both the business and leisure traveller and the rooms are decorated in neutral shades with bright or patterned fabrics. Meeting and banquet facilities are also available for up to 150 people. Each room as a private bathroom, TV, radio, alarm clock, hair dryer, internet connection, tea and coffee maker as well as a trouser press. There is an outdoor off road free private car park in front of the main entrance. You are less than 5 miles from Newcastle Airport and the Central Station is a short 5 minute walk away.
Situated on Holy Island, and perched on a rocky crag, this miniature castle is accessible only at low tide. It was originally a Tudor fort but was converted into a private house in 1903.
The castle's opening times vary depending on the tides, but on the days on which it is open, it is open for 5 hours, either from 10am- 3pm or from 12 noon- 5pm. A copy of the tide tables can be obtained by contacting Lindisfarne Castle.

The Zetland Lifeboat is the oldest lifeboat in existence and was built in 1802 and whilst in service it saved more than 500 lives.
The museum tells the history of the Zetland and the RNLI and how the lives of fisherman were saved from the sea.Other exhibits include a fisherman's cottage and art gallery.
A shop provides souvenirs of your visit to the museum.
Entrance is free, donations are accepted.

RNLI Whitby Museum
The RNLI Whitby Museum opened in 1957 and is housed in the former double boathouse which dates from 1895. This building contains a collection of artefacts relating to the history of local sea rescues. There are lifeboat models, medals, paintings and photographs as well as personal written accounts from RNLI crew members.
It is open from Easter to October, from 10am until 4pm daily. Admission is free, although donations are welcome.
The long distance walk "The Cleveland Way" passes close to this attraction.
The Rheged Centre ("The Village In The Hill") is named after the ancient Celtic Kingdom of Rheged. It was constructed from a disused limestone quarry and is covered over with the largest grass roof in Europe. Inside are a number of activities and attractions to suit every age. "Giant Movies" is the home of a large format cinema which rotates seven feature films on such diverse subjects as "Vikings: Journey to New Worlds" and "Africa: The Serengeti". "Discover" is a permanent exhibition and information centre covering the history of the region from the Ice Age to the present. It also houses the National Mountaineering Exhibition. The Centre hosts live music, fairs and childrens workshops. There is a play centre, a cafe and a shop which sells local produce, beers and crafts.
