Would love to know if someone else had a better experience but i rather felt let down by The New Northumbria hotel. The hotel seemed like somewhere better suited to a stag party than someone taking a weekend break or on business. The hotel seemed to be perched on top of a disco and a bar. It was also a hotel where the walls seemed thin and every footstep or squeek in the corridoor would reverberate into the room. I would make an effort to find another hotel. To be fair the staff at the front desk were utterly charming (unlike those at breakfast who denied someone breakfast who was about 15 seconds past the deadline)...perhaps the couple in question were spared though as I had the most manking scrambled eggs I have eaten since school: yuck.

The size of the room and the features were fine, this is not a luxury hotel. It could have done with a tad more sound proofing though - i did feel at times that i was sleeping in the corridor.

Credit where it is due: the front desk was charming at arrival and exit. The local lasses had the biggest smiles I had seen in years and were very helpful. The inside of the hotel and corridors felt a bit tired/ pokey.

The hotel is pretty well located in Jesmond, a pucca area of Newcastle. If you want nightlife then you are quids in, the hotel appeared to sit on top of a nightclub and bar. If you want peace and quiet then look elsewhere.
