Description Matfen Hall
Matfen Hall is a magnificent, privately owned, country house hotel set in the beautiful Northumbrian countryside close to Hadrians Wall.Our fantastic new Spa and Leisure complex is now open, along with a brand new state of the art conference room and extra luxurious bedrooms. Each of Matfen Halls 53 bedrooms have their own charm and character combining modern facilities with traditional opulence. All rooms are en-suite, with satellite TV, direct dial telephone and all the amenities you would expect. Our Premier and Executive rooms are particularly spacious with seating areas and luxurious bathrooms. Four Poster bedrooms are also available for that extra special occasion. Exquisitely furnished with book or print lined walls, our Library and Print Room Restaurant is much more than a hotel restaurant. For those who are serious about their food it is a genuine fine dining experience.
Situated on Holy Island, and perched on a rocky crag, this miniature castle is accessible only at low tide. It was originally a Tudor fort but was converted into a private house in 1903.
The castle's opening times vary depending on the tides, but on the days on which it is open, it is open for 5 hours, either from 10am- 3pm or from 12 noon- 5pm. A copy of the tide tables can be obtained by contacting Lindisfarne Castle.

Family tickets are available and reduced entry fees are avialable for National Trust members.
Teesside Shopping Park
Teesside Park is located off the A19 and has free parking, other facilities include toilets, petrol station and a covered path in front of the shops.
The type of shops located at the park include food, clothes, electrical goods, toys, books, coffee houses, restaurants, pharmacy, and shoes.
There is a leisure park opposite the shopping park that includes a bowling alley, cinema, bingo hall and casino.
Opening and closing times vary depending on the shop.
This annual event which is organised by the Cumberland Agricultural Society features a livestock show with many classes of horses (including clydesdales, hunters and ponies), cattle, sheep and goats. Other shows include dogs, rabbits, poultry and tractors. The main ring stages a range of exhibitions inlcuding the Royal Artillery Motorcycle Display Team, craft demonstrations and cookery. There are competitions for schools and a range of activities (quad biking, paintball, face painting) for all ages.

The Rheged Centre ("The Village In The Hill") is named after the ancient Celtic Kingdom of Rheged. It was constructed from a disused limestone quarry and is covered over with the largest grass roof in Europe. Inside are a number of activities and attractions to suit every age. "Giant Movies" is the home of a large format cinema which rotates seven feature films on such diverse subjects as "Vikings: Journey to New Worlds" and "Africa: The Serengeti". "Discover" is a permanent exhibition and information centre covering the history of the region from the Ice Age to the present. It also houses the National Mountaineering Exhibition. The Centre hosts live music, fairs and childrens workshops. There is a play centre, a cafe and a shop which sells local produce, beers and crafts.
