Location. The Carlton Hotel is located in New York City, N.Y., four blocks south of the Empire State Building. A circumference of nearly 200 miles can be seen from the Empire State Building's highest observation tower on a very clear day. Madison Square Garden and Penn Station are five blocks from the hotel. Times Square and Radio City Music Hall are within one mile. Central Park is less than two miles away. The hotel is located between the Murray Hill and Gramercy Park neighborhoods.
Hotel Features. A three story lobby waterfall cascades over a photo of the original 1904 hotel while sun streams across the mosaic tiled floor from the 30 foot, Tiffany style domed skylight. The Carlton Hotel offers coffee and complimentary newspapers in the lobby. Country, the hotel's formal dinner restaurant, serves seasonal French American cuisine complements of notable New York chef/restaurateur Geoffrey Zakarian. A total of 6,000 square feet of function space accommodates events. Complimentary wireless Internet access is provided throughout the hotel. A business center houses two computer stations. Use of a nearby fitness center is complimentary. This New York City hotel was built at the beginning of the 20th century and renovated in 2008 by renowned architect David Rockwell.
Guestrooms. The 317 guestrooms at The Carlton Hotel feature mahogany furnishings, Roman shades, and beds with Frette Italian linens and down comforters. The bathrooms feature marble vanities and are stocked with Molton Brown bath amenities. Bathrooms also feature lighted magnifying mirrors, telephones and bathrobes. All accommodations include minibars and coffeemakers. Also featured are 42 inch flat screen televisions, complimentary wireless Internet access, and MP3 adaptors. Many rooms afford views of the Empire State Building and Madison Avenue.
Expert Tip. During renovations, workers uncovered an authentic Tiffany dome that had been walled from view. The dome has now been restored to reflect its full glory, and is showcased in the hotel's restaurant.

This elegant building is located on a nice tree lined street, in the shadow of the Empire State Building, minutes from all the sightseeing and shopping. The rooms are really comfortable and many have wonderful views of the Empire State Building or Madison Avenue. There is a fitness center, business center and cafe on site and there are many restaurants, bistros and cafes nearby. The subway is also close and its only 15 minutes walk to Times Square. The staff are friendly and helpful. A decent hotel in a great location. Please note that the hotel is undergoing renovations. Country the new 4-star restaurant is scheduled to open in October.
