[Miodrag, 03/12/2009] In the very heart of downtown, right next to the oldest bridge in Nanning, the Yongjiang Hotel (named after the river that runs no more than 30 yards from it) is a typical example of a 'window to the world' built in socialist countries in the 1970s and 1980s, so it may appear a little dated, as today there are a dozen more modern, higher end hotels that belong to international chains in the new part of Nanning, but these are 4-5 miles away from the city center, in an area that where up to mere 10 years ago stood bare turf.
