Description: Strathclyde Park is set in 1100 acres of countryside in the valley of the River Clyde between Motherwell and Hamilton. It is free and there are lots of free parking. The park is set round Strathclyde Loch and the park is a licenced outdoor centre. Activities include rowing, windsurfing, canoeing, dinghy sailing and water skiing. Boats are available for hire, or you can bring your own. No swimming it permitted at the Loch. There are also Bumper boats, Wave boats, Pedalos ,Canoes and Boat trips. Charges apply.
On Land there are football pitches, hockey pitches,a 7-a-side football centre, jogging track, cycling track (mountain bikes are available for hire), coarse angling (permit required) and horseriding. Several events are held throughout the year e.g. the country fair, horse shows, cross country races as well as international rowing events.
There are guided walks led by the ranger service plus historic sites like Bothwell haugh Roman fort and Orbiston Tower House to explore. It is also a breeding ground for birds and wild animals.
There is a park visitors centre and plenty cafes and toilet facilities are available.
