[more]This is the only South African lighthouse which is built of rock and it stands 20.5 meters high at Mossel Bay, approximately midway between Cape Town and Port Elizabeth. The lighthouse dates from 1864 and is open to the public from 10h00 to 15h00 daily during October to April, with pre-arranged visits an option during the rest of the year.
Curios can be purchased at the site and there is also a self-catering unit which sleeps six and can be rented from Transnet. Further details are available at the website.
