[20/08/2008] The Chellah hotel is one of those you find everywhere in Morocco. It has this atmosphere of a rich past. The rooms are o.k., but not luxury, and like everywhere in Morocco, only a few TV channels. The price of the rooms is quite good. I had a room with a large balcony and a beautiful view on the garden. Dinner I had in restaurants in the Médina, and there I met a retired porter of the Chellah who showed me pictures of him at the Chella swimming pool in the 60's. It looked really quite a bit newer then. It is a very nice place to stay for visiting Tangier, and offers everything you need for a c

[20/08/2008] When I arrived at the Menara Gardens it was a sunday afternoon, and the gardens were full of people having a picknick, making music and dancing. A lively atmosphere that did good to the whole settings of the Menara. The water basin and the buildings around it are very nice, and a small café offers the opportunity to relax in the shade and see all Marrakech passing by. The view on the (in february) snow tipped Atlas mountains is beautiful. When I was there a floating stage was put up in the basin to perform plays in this great scenery.
[20/08/2008] This good restaurant has, as the name suggests, a real Jazzy atmosphere. There is life music, and the service is excellent. The quality is good, but the restaurant is not the cheapest in town. Their menu has a good variety, from tagines and couscous to steak and pizza. I noticed the interior attracts Swedish people, because it is in yellow and blue. I had dinner there several times during my stay at Agadir, and all the time very pleasant and a good quality.
[18/08/2008] The Grand Prix de Tanger is a small event but with quality classic cars. There is a short cirquit set out trough the city centre for a few short classic car races. The 'paddock' is open for the public, and it is free to see all cars taking part. A really nice event, every spring (May) in Tanger.
[18/08/2008] Being a classic car enthousiast myself it was great to see this classic car event taking place. I hope to take part one time with my '67 Alfa GT. Being just 'spectator' myself it was nice to see everything taking place on 100 meters from my hotel in the centre of Casablanca. Great classic cars from all over in a very relaxed setting.
[18/08/2008] The avenue Hassan II shows his true character after dark. When the lights are on, and all Fès is having their evening walk this avenue has an exeptional atmosphere. It is full of people walking up-and-down, and all the tables the terraces of the café's are occupied.
During Ramadan the contrast is even more visible. Before the Iftar (time to eat) the street is deserted. After having taken their Iftar meal everybody seems out on the street.
[18/08/2008] This hotel has an exeptional setup. The rooms are spread out in more or les loosely connected blocks like a Moroccan village. More or less like a 3d maze, grouped around a large swimming pool. With the white and blue painting of the buildings it gives a wonderful atmosphere. The rooms are very basic but clean and cosy. If you don't bother luxury this is a wonderful place to stay.
[17/08/2008] The Ibis hotel is located next to the train station of Fès. An excellent location, at the edge of the new town, and a 10 min. walk from the old Médina. The hotel has a nice atmosphere and I had a room with a terrace, and a great view towards the old medina. Spectacular in the evening hours. The rooms are o.k. as can be expected from Ibis. Stay more than 1 night, Fès is worth it, and you will definetely not been done in a single day.
[17/08/2008] Close to the train station, and in the centre of Rabat this is a nice hotel. A helpful staff and reasonable good rooms. I had a rather small room, but there were also bigger. The location is o.k. for discovering Rabat. During the European Footbal championship it was possible to see the matches on a big screen in te lobby. :-)
[17/08/2008] The hotel, opposite to the parliament builing is quite impressive. It is constructed as a big arch and has a nice square with terraces in front of it. The view from the hotel rooms is impressive and it's location, close to the train station and the city centre, is excellent. The hotel staff is very friendly and helpful and the rooms are good. I have already been there 3 times, and it is my favourite place to stay in Rabat.
