Frommers have rated this "appealing" hotel as "exceptional" and described it as "one of the Caribbean's grand hotels".
This "true luxury hotel with taste and style" offers "1 1/2 miles of white-sand beach" and 400 acres of land. It is located "8 miles east" of the "city center" and "6 1/4 miles from the airport". The author states, that the Half Moon offers "far more activities, excitement, amenities and restaurants" than fellow competitors, is less "snobbish" and also found its beach to be "better".
Accommodation comes in different sizes, from a "conventional room" to "superbly accessorized private villas", but all of them are "comfortably furnished".
The decor in the rooms is held in a "English colonial/Caribbean" style, with "Queen Anne-inspired furniture", "Jamaican paintings" and "mahogany four-poster beds" in "many rooms".
The Hotel offers several restaurants, including Sugar Mill, Frommers "favourite in Montego Bay". "Alfresco" dining at the Seagrape Terrace has been found "delightful", "Renaissance" style Il Giardino offers "savoury Italian cuisine" and further restaurants offer Asian cuisine and steaks and there is also "an English pub"
