Chapultepec Zoo is one of four zoos in Mexico City and of these it is the oldest and largest. It was founded in 1926 and in terms of the number of visitors it is the second most popular zoo in the World, attracting between 5.5 and 8 million visitors annually. This zoo is noted for its three female Giant Pandas which have been used in various breeding programs. In addition to the Pandas there are approximately 280 other animal species. Chapultepec Zoo is open Tuesdays through to Sundays from 9am until 4.30pm. It is closed on Mondays as well as December 25th and January 1st. Entry is free. |
