[Annna13, 29.09.2007] The author visited W Mexico City in October 2006 and rates it as exceptional giving it three out of three stars. It is a new 26-story business hotel which opened in 2003 and was billed at that time as "the chicest spot to stay in Mexico". It has
"an all-glass entrance", and a number of "stepped lounge areas with ponds". The Red Lounge has a three-story projection wall with beautiful images from all over the World, this is described as "a sophisticated mixture of style, comfort and technology".
It has "spectacular" rooms with terrazzo floors and fascinating decorations. These rooms are said to be "brilliant" with bright coloured walls and white beds. They also have "a spacious and comfortable work area". The bathrooms are "stunning" and "break with tradition". A large circular tub with massage jets are in some of the rooms. There are also "Loft" suites here that offer views of Chapulapec Park and these have green-glass showers and ceiling plasma TVs above the beds. There is also a spectacular penthouse suite as well with unusual amenities such as a pillow-covered playroom.
For business travelers the hotel has nine high-tech conference rooms and a complete business center with special office equipment. There is a glass-enclosed health club, a full-service spa centre, and a "chic" seafood restaurant with al fresco terrace and the first of Rande Gerber's popular Whiskey Bars outside the U.S.
The hotel's terrace is considered as "the city's top nightspot".
