Hannibal Park - Port el Kantaoui, Tunisia
Great fun (28.05.2008 14:06)
When I've visited Hannibal Park for the first time, I was pleasantly surprised by its size and variety of amenities within the park. Frankly, I did not expect it, because I've noticed that Port el Kantaoui is an artificial and newly-made (but nice) tourist attraction, so I thought it would have only few rides, mostly for smaller children - just as a part of a bigger attraction. But Hannibal [more...] -
Acqua Palace - Port el Kantaoui, Tunisia
Not a palace, but not bad (24.05.2008 11:08)
My expectations about Acqua Palace were high, maybe because I've visited similar themed aqua park in Jakarta, Indonesia. Well, it wasn't that good, but fair enough for someone who is visiting such place for the first time. It is not so big either, so you can try all slides and "rides" within 1 hour and after that you can only go again on slides that you liked the best. There are several bigger [more...] -
Disneyland Park - Anaheim, United States of America
True magic (23.05.2008 14:08)
I grew up on Disney's movies and even now they always amuse me in the same way. Therefore, when I've got the opportunity to visit the first and the original Disneyland in the world, it was a chance that could not be missed. It was in 1991, at the end of student exchange visiting program, when we were going back home from San Francisco (divided in smaller groups), and we had only 2 days to visit [more...] -
Grauman's Chinese Theatre - Hollywood, United States of America
There's nothing much to see (22.05.2008 10:45)
When I've visited the USA in 1991 with a group of students, we had only two days to visit LA, so we had to decide which attractions we will visit and which we will skip, considering our lack of time. Unfortunately, our first choice, which seemed so natural and logical, was to visit the famous Chinese Theatre and Walk of Fame. When we have reached the street, we were walking with our maps and [more...] -
Museum Night - Belgrade, Serbia and Montenegro
Exhausting but amazing night (20.05.2008 11:53)
Museum Night is a good way to spend less money for visiting museums, but also an excellent way to spend extremely long time in waiting lines. The concept is not bad at all, but in Belgrade it attracted more people than all galleries and museums can bear. I've prepared a "conquering plan" very carefully, and chose 12 out of more than 60 attractions, estimating that we'll be able to visit at least [more...] -
Badija - Korčula, Croatia
Dream Island (20.05.2008 10:38)
Badija have always been my favorite excursion place. It is a small island next to Korčula with beautiful beaches and rich nature. And when I say small, I mean really small - only 1 sq km. The name Badija (pronounced as 'Badiya") originates from the Latin name "abbatial" which means "abbey". The first thing you see when you approach the island is 14th century Franciscan monastery (founded in [more...] -
Korčula Town Museum - Korčula, Croatia
Whatta kitchen! (16.05.2008 11:37)
I'm very lucky that my daughter shares my enthusiasm when it comes to visiting museum, galleries and historical sites. Therefore, it was natural that we decided to visit the Korčula Town Museum. My husband prefers historical sites and he's not so keen about museums, so he decided to pass this one. Lady in Museum was pleasantly amazed to see that a child wants to visit the museum (while daddy [more...] -
Tomislavov dom - City of Zagreb, Croatia - December, 2004
Business excluded pleasure (13.05.2008 14:20)
I've stayed in this hotel on a business occasion, regional gathering, organized by the company that I've worked for. The hotel is located on top of Sljeme hill (pronounced as "Slyeme"), just 30 minutes ride from Zagreb, the capital of Croatia, but place is so tranquil and nature is so beautiful, undisturbed by vicinity of a big city. The architecture is a mixture of mountain house and modern [more...] -
Hammamet Medina - Hammamet, Tunisia
Just don't get scared and it'll be OK (12.05.2008 20:20)
The Hammamet Medina is smaller than one in Sousse, so it is easier to find your way in and out, but there's still a good chance for getting lost in a maze of narrow streets. Medina walls were built in late 15th century by Hafsites in order to protect from outside danger and to provide safe and undisturbed living within its' walls. Therefore it became the center of trade in the region, but now [more...] -
The Moreska Sword Dance - Korčula, Croatia
I wanted to be a princess, too (03.05.2008 18:43)
Moreška was always my favorite event. I remember those warm Mediterranean nights from my childhood when I was sneaking with local kids trying to peak through plastic screens covering the fence to the "stadium" where Moreška was performed and hiding from "the evil guard". Boys were pretending to be red and black soldiers and girls were sighing imagining how they would play the princess, when they [more...]
