The Windsor is a "charmingly upper-crust" hotel that "oozes sophistication" and represents "Australia's only surviving authentic 'grand' hotel". Inside guests will appreciate the "luxuriously carpeted" lobby and the "Grand Ballroom" with its "ornate ceilings, leather furniture" and "gorgeous carpets". The "comfortable" standard rooms incorporate "high ceilings and tasteful furnishings" along with a "good-size bathroom". The deluxe rooms are "twice as big" with some offering "striking views of Parliament House and the Melbourne Cathedral" nearby. The "huge" suites are "furnished with antiques". The hotel staff are described as "friendly and efficient". Frommers very highly recommends the hotel and this is indicated by a two star rating.
