But Marsala is also famous for: The Natural Reserve of Stagnone, founded to protect this important area of western Sicily and characterised by shallow waters and rich in fauna and flora; and The Salt Pans, whose origins go back to the Phoenicians who, thanks to the geographic and climatic conditions of this area, installed some basins where sea water came into and from which they could extract salt. In addition to this, Marsala allows you to easily reach: Erice; Selinunte; Segesta; Mazara del Vallo; San Vito Lo Capo; Zingaro Reserve; and Egadi Islands.Built in the mid 1800’s, on demand of Carlo Gordon, this former farmhouse was transformed in 1998 to offer comfortable accommodation without changing its impressive original and historical look.
