[more]Only 15 Km from Trapani Birgi Airport you can experience the true Sicilian culture and stay in the historical centre of Marsala. Our suites of rooms have been completely renovated and have their own bathroom and air conditioning. In keeping with tradition and situated in an old courtyard you can still find the authentic Sicily. Conveniently situated opposite the San Matteo church, in Via Punica, bordering the East corner of the pedestrianised old town. These newly renovated self-contained suites have independent access up stone stairs in a secluded, traditional tufa courtyard, shared with your hosts Tiziana & Roberto. They combine heritage with modern facilities. Suite 1 (first floor) comprises two spacious rooms, with a window balcony overlooking the church and compact trendy ‘wet room’. Suite 2 (second floor) is a spacious L-shaped room with double bed, discreetly placed single bed, luxury shower / toilet & a large balcony overlooking the courtyard. Leave the car in the public car park 100 meters from the house and enjoy the pedestrian area in the historic centre. Beautiful churches, such as the cathedral dedicated to St. Thomas Becket of Canterbury, the archaeological Museum with the Punic Boat … and more. Historic wineries to taste Marsala wine. Do not miss the interesting Fish and Vegetable Market, while the weekly market (Tuesday) will amaze you with food and bargains. But ... shopping in town is even more interesting with more than ten shoe shops just behind our house … dedicated to women! The sea is 300 meters away, with bathing beaches at 1 km (where you can ‘kite surf’ during summer). The lagoon, called “Stagnone”, with beautiful views to Mothia Island and Isola Longa that you can reach by canoing or even walking in the sea (Isola Longa). From the harbour, 300 meters from the house, you can take ferries to Egadi Island: visit Favignana and Levanzo for a day-trip. Mazara del Vallo, Trapani, marvellous Selinunte by train within a 1 hour journey. For lunch we suggest fantastic and cheap food street – arancine!, pane e panelle, ice-cream in a brioche, pizza, while at a charming little restaurant you can enjoy your dinner with fish and cous-cous without spending that much. .
