[nam2505, 29/01/2012] My wife and I stayed for 2 nights in Feb 2009 and found this to be a very good hotel. The building itself has plenty of character with exposed beams and brickwork features incorporated into a modern renovation which is comfortable and has been done to a very high standard. The room wasn't the largest (but given the nature of the building this was no surprise) - it was however fitted out to a very high standard and very comfortable. The staff were very friendly, helpful and professional.
The hotel restaurant was very good and from memory reasonably priced too - we enjoyed a very pleasant Valent

[jipp05, 22/09/2011] My partner and I had been invited to a wedding in Wales and as I am living in Scotland and my partner in The Netherlands we thought we thought that it would be easiest to meet in Manchester and then drive down to Wales the following morning for the wedding.
We had originally booked a different hotel but after having some trouble with them we decided to cancel it and book somewhere else.
As it was only for one night and we were paying a small fortune to stay in Wales the next night we decided to book in to the Travelodge Manchester Central. I had received an email from Travelodge a few days

[hannah_i, 12/07/2011] The restaurant has great food and can cater for quite a large number of guests, so you usually wont have any issue getting a table. The choice available isn't bad, with more variety, such as peking duck pancakes, in the evenings (slightly more expensive). The buffet is around GBP 6.00 during the day and GBP 9.00 in the evenings, so it's affordable to pretty much everyone.
[hannah_i, 12/07/2011] The range of shots is, quite frankly, amazing. They're cheap and cheerful, and the place is ideal for starting your night out in Manchester. There are now three Baa Bars in Manchester - one on Deansgate locks, one on Canal street / in the Gay Village and another in Fallowfield (student area!). Normal drinks are also available, as well as cocktails and shooters. I would particularly recommend Baa Bar to a rather broad 18 - 45 age group :)
[hannah_i, 12/07/2011] Music is good, drinks are cheap (not very good though), good location near canal street in the centre of Manchester...crowd are probably all under 25. The staff are pretty much OK, but the doormen let the side down a little. Can get in cheaper with student ID or flyer from one of the promoters usually walking the streets nearby. Generally it's a very popular club to go to, but there are better places in town!
[Richards, 06/07/2011] It looks nice (maybe a bit tired) from the outside and reception but the room are just awful. My first room had no window, the air conditioning was broken (was noticably cooler in the corridor) and the room wasnt very clean. When I complained they gave me a desk fan. I explained that moving hot air around wasnt going to help, and to give them credit they upgraded my room. The next room still wasnt brilliantly clean, there was no ceiling light so it was very dark, the bath had mould and rust on it and the shower varied between boiling and freezing even when you didnt touch the temperature contr

[hannah_i, 04/07/2011] Located within the University of Manchester Campus, the Museum houses hundreds of thousands of specimens; from insects to lions and birds to dinosaurs, not to mention the vast variety of plants and minerals, as well as the live amphibian and special exhibition section (for example, Ancient Egypt, Stonehenge, Lindow Man, etc.). The museum is free of charge, and most certainly worth a visit!
[hannah_i, 04/07/2011] An absolutely fantastic museum, celebrating the epicentre of the Industrial revolution - which has something to suit all ages. Besides the special exhibitions, the museum is free to enter and has a lot to offer - Aerospace, Locomotion / British Rail, Fabrics, History of Manchester, Communications, Science & Technology (especially great for children), etc. The museum also houses part of the World's First Passenger Railway - The Liverpool - Manchester line, which is operational within the Museum's grounds at weekends (GBP 1.00 Children, GBP 2.00 Adults).
[hannah_i, 04/07/2011] The hotel is located within walking distance of Manchester City Centre (Piccadilly Gardens / Market Street), or a short taxi ride. The staff are very friendly and contribute towards the friendly, home-like atmosphere in the bar / restaurant. With comfortable rooms, great amenities (including gym, swimming pool, etc.), you can be sure to have a good time at this hotel, after enjoying the city and night life in Manchester.
[hannah_i, 04/07/2011] The Manchester Wheel, located between the Arndale, the Printworks and the Triangle shopping centre, is excellent for tourists as well as those wanting to get to know Manchester a little better. I would recommend having a ride both during the day and at night, to make the most of this attraction and the great view that it offers.
[jipp05, 22/03/2011] Selfridges is a swanky department store that has it's flagship store in London but has slowely expanded to some other locations around the country and the one in Manchester has become a mecca for shopping lovers from all over the North of England. It is defintely somewhere you should visit even if only to browse some of the world's priciest clothes and perfumes.
You can find Selfridges right in the centre of the city located near the famous market street shopping area and the traingle shopping centre. Whereas they are high street Selfridges is definately more upmarket.
It is housed in a lar

[jipp05, 22/03/2011] After dinner in Manchester city centre we decided to round our night off with a few drinks and our friends told us about this supposedly amazing bar which was called cinnabar. Being a sucker for all things design and pretentious it sounded right up my street so we got into a taxi and headed to it.
As we drove further and further from the city centre I was begining to get worried as I was wondering what sort of trendy bar would be located this far out. It turned out the bar is actually located in the amazing sports city complex which was built for the commonwealth games and now houses Manchest

[jipp05, 19/03/2011] Even since I returned from a trip to Thailand a couple of years ago I have been craving authentic Thai food. Unfortunately my cooking skills only really stretch to green curry from a jar so when I was visiting Manchester friends told me about a Thai restaurant that had a good reputation within the city and we decided to treat ourselves to a meal. The restaurant is called Chaophraya and the owner opened the Manchester one after originally opening one in Leeds that was a big success.
When we arrived at the restaurant the first thing I noticed was the gorgeous decor which really had a perfect

[aliwack, 15/03/2011] Fantstic hotel led by a great Hotel manager (yorkshire accent) who had the time to come around the restauarant and check our satisfaction and even carried our bags to the reception desk. Great team we had such a relaxing stay in first class rural surroundings
[jl132, 11/12/2010] The Ibis Manchester City Centre Hotel is part of the Ibis chain. The Ibis is part of the French Accor. Worldwide there are 750 hotels. The Ibis hotel is characterized by cheap, simple but quality for money and offers more than just another cheap hotel. They have extensive breakfast and more personal service. I have now stayed a number of times and every time it was especially the location of the Ibis that did it for me. An Ibis is often in the center or near an airport.
The Ibis Manchester
Ibis Manchester City Centre is located on Portland Street in central Manchester. It is a fairly large h

It makes me feel old to think that the first Manchester Pride was back in 1990. I remember that I was in Manchester that weekend and I lined the streets like thousands of others, more than a little curious as all the Parade March went by. Twenty years later and this event has gone from strength to strength, with some estimates claiming crowds in excess of 300,000 for the 2010 event that marked its 20th anniversary.
Manchester Pride takes place over the August Bank Holiday weekend and describes itself as a celebration of gay, bisexual and transgender life. It is probably fair to say that man

[fizzytom, 27/09/2010] Although I regularly stay in hotels, it is very rare that I have the need to stay in an airport hotel. However, in September 2010 we needed to take an early morning flight out of Manchester airport and the only feasible plan was to stay in a nearby hotel the night before our flight; fortunately there are numerous hotels in the area and the choice runs the gamut of the price spectrum.
We were happy enough to stay in a budget chain, leaving more money to spend on a meal in Manchester’s Curry Mile on the eve of our holiday, and managed to get a double room at the Manchester Airport Premier In

[lbagnall, 09/09/2010] The Lennox Lea is a really charming family-run hotel, convenient to the Manchester airport. It's located on a quiet side street, with free parking. It's not the Ritz, but the value is unbeatable. The rooms are clean, comfortable and well-appointed, and the staff (the owners, I think) are friendly and helpful. For the price, I would expect a cheap, chain-run hotel, or equivalently, I would expect to pay more for a hotel of that quality. It doesn't have a restaurant, but it's a few blocks away from a number of restaurants, and you can bring take-away back to eat in the bar.
