The Manchester Museum of Transport has one of the largest transport collections in the UK with 90 buses and a small number of other vehicles representing public transport in the Greater Manchester area. There are also archives about the history of transport in the area and a number of small exhibits. Special events occur during the year, including a spring and autumn festival, the Heaton Park rally and there is also a special weekend for disabled people.
The Museum is run by the volunteers of the Greater Manchester Transport Society (GMTS) but the Museum is owned by the Greater Manchester Passenger Transport Executive.
The Museums opening times are as follows: 1st Mar-31 Oct: Wed, Sat, Sun & Bank Holidays - 10.00-17.00. 1 Nov-28 Feb: Wed, Sat, Sun - 10.00-16.00.
