The best UK Airport?
Living right on Manchester Airports doorstep all my life and also working there at one point, this place is somewhere I know pretty well! Unlike most youngsters these days I did not fly until I was in my late thirties. My first flight was from Manchester Airport to Malta. Manchester Airport is the 4th busiest International Airport in the UK and is situated 16kms south of Manchester. Since 2001 the airport operates with two runways and offers three terminals.The more than 100 international airlines are handling 22 Million passengers a year and offer direct flights to more than 225 destinations worldwide, more than from any other airport in the UK. The airport has direct train links from Manchester,a regular bus service and short and long term parking facilities. Further there are various shops, restaurants, hotels, a business centre, conference room and several WIFI hotspots. Exchange bureaus are located in each terminal and there are two multi-faith prayer rooms, one at terminal 2 at departures and one at the walkway that connects terminal 1 and 3. Further facilities at the airport include showers, disabled facilities, baby changing rooms, a NHS Walk In Centre (first aid) and a Dry Cleaning Centre. A spectator terrace with telescopes and Aviation shop can be found on level 13 of the multi storey car park. |
