Fullmoon Honeymoon

Travel date: february 2003
Beach holiday
All Inclusive
more than 2 weeks
Spouse/Partner
For a honeymoon, quiet getaway or diving holiday this is perfect. There are many local reefs to visit & even around the lagoon the fish are plentiful. The waterbungalows are very comfortable & private. We spent quite a few evenings on our balcony with room service dinner delivered to enjoy the peace & tranquility of this haven. If you go out to dinner you will return to the most amazing flower arrangements on your bed, different every night, with the best one coming on the last night of your stay.Truely a place for people who enjoy swimming, snorkelling, read ing & peace. The staff are great and have there own storys to tell of the tsunami. With the new renovations the Fullmoon is truely a superior first class resort island & this is visible upon arrival at the jetty.Dont forget to take a stroll to the jetty at night with some stale bread from the main kitchen.Throw small pieces in to the water and you will be rewarded with a display from hundreds of fish. This is where I saw my first shark so dont put your feet in at night time.

    Cleanliness
  • We stayed in a water bungalow which was very spacious & clean. With air con & ceiling fan T.V, telephone, safe, minibartable & chairs, large wardrobe for clothes. The four poster bed was very comfortable & was a double not two singles pushed together, with white curtains to close at night if you wished. The style of the room was typically Maldivian with lots of intricate woodwork on the ceiling & floor. There was a large balcony over the water with sunloungers & a table.Private steps leading into the water was a huge advantage when wishing to snorkel.

    Lobby Atmosphere
  • Our last visit in 2006 was just after the tsunami.Lots of building work was being done to the damaged areas and new improved water bungalows were being built of a higher standard. The waterbungalows are not suitable for children under the age of 12.The lobby area is large with plenty of comfortable seating , ceiling fans & newspapers to read if you feal the urge. The whole front desk & reception area has been renovated to a very high standard. The staff are very friendly & helpfull. The guest vary from honeymoon couples to diving groups. The Anchorage bar is newly renovated & very comfortably equiped, this leads out to a decked over sea seating area which is the place to be at night. The pool is adequate & there is also a small paddling pool for children. The sports centre has a gym & tennis courts, table tenniswindsurfing, catamarans & a PADI dive school operated by Eurodivers. The new Spa is reached by a long wooden walkway off the main island & has an extensive range of treatments on offer.

    Food Quality
  • The standard of the food and service here is very high with a relaxed informal dining approach in the main all inclusive restaurant. There is also a Thai ,Mediterranean, continental or Asian restaurants & a Grill. For snacks there is a coffee shop & the bar.The range of alcohol is adequate on all inclusive with many fruit cocktails on offer but premium brands come at an extra cost.Champagne is virtually out of the question at $260 for the cheapest bottle.

    Transportation Connection
  • Fullmoon is a beautiful peaceful island where you can have the true robinson crusoe experience. From the airport island it is only 25 minutes by speedboat which makes it a good place to visit the capital Male. The shopping is not fantastic as is the case on most resort island. The tourist shop & jewllers are the only shops to buy fromo unless you take a trip to Male.Entrtainment is put on most night with disco, bands, jazz singers etc..Spending a quiet evening on the decking of the Anchorage bar watching the fish swim by is a very relaxing way to pass an evening & you may spot ray's & sharks. The Beach is quite big all the way around the island & extra sand is quite often brought over by boat from Dubai to keep the beach in pristine condition. The water is turquoise in colour ,very clear & fish are visible to the naked eye.
