This is an ideal spot from which you can explore the Spanish capital, drinking in the magnificent buildings of the centre, not to mention a few cañas (beers). This area is literally packed with great tapas bars, which offer all sorts of Spanish delicacies. For you culture vultures, you’re near the Big Three when it comes to museums including the world-renown Prado which houses famous artists such as Goya, Velazquez and Bosch. The Reina Sofia holds what might be Picasso’s best known work of art, the immense grey and white Guernika.
