Compiled for you: The facts!Details Temple of Luxor

Description: The Temple of Luxor is an ancient Egyptian temple situated on the east bank of the River Nile. The festival of Opet was traditionally celebrated here annually and the temple was known as one of the holiest in the southern parts. It was built by Amenhotep III and Ramesses II and is directly in the centre of the city making it easily accessible on foot, by taxi or public transport. Although the area of Luxor was considerably desolate, in recent times it has become a tourist attraction and lots of hotels, restaurants and souvenir shops have been built here. Tourists are welcome to explore the temple at their own pace or can opt for a tour guide for a small fee. Photos are allowed and the Luxor Museum and Museum of mummification are close by. These display mainly objects that were found in the temple itself.
