[catsholiday, 27/10/2011] On our trip to Vietnam and Cambodia we moved between the two countries by boat along the Mekong River. This river has always had rather romantic, exotic images, a bit like Constantinople, Casablanca , the Yangtze River and Other places that just sound so exciting that you must go and see.
We stayed the night in Chau Doc in Vietnam in a lovely hotel right on the river. We had had a great day exploring this part of Vietnam, watching a family make rice wrappers for spring rolls, we had eaten some rather strange food local to the area, satay frog legs and an ell dish; neither of which I asked the

[purtscher, 01/03/2010] We thouroughly enjoyed our stay in the Belle Rive Hotel . Its location is superb: right on the banks of the Mekong, with splendid views, very quiet, but the town center just round the corner all the sights in easy walking distance. This small hotel is a bijou: built in colonial style, beautifully decorated, spacious rooms which show love to the details.
Paul and Elle, the owner-managers of the Belle Rive and their staff do an excellent job: such a warm welcome, perfect service and great assistance , which we appreciated especially when planning individual excursions.

[laos_info, 06/12/2008] A great shopping experience for bargain hunters, but mainy products have been imported from Thailand, China and Vietnam - look out for Lao products.
