Originally an old folks home, the "ultramodern" building has retained "design elements" from the original outside while offering "mod" public rooms inside. He was delighted and surprised with the way that "form merges with function beautifully" to create "luxurious accommodations". Although not particularly large, guestrooms are extremely well furnished, decorated and appointed. Each features a "beautifully made" bed with quality linens. Although centrally placed and close to shopping amenities, he bemoans the lack of a view and a pool. He does note that the double-glazing insulates residents from the neighbourhood noise. The hotel offers a buisness centre and room service from a local coffee shop. Frommer's declares the Elan to be "highly recommended" (2 star rating) and is "moderately priced" ($$)
