[more]The Los Angeles Marathon was inspired by the 1984 Los Angeles Olympic Games and has been held every year since 1986. It attracts more than 25.000 athletes, a crowd of around 1.000.000 spectators and runs over the full distance of 42.2 km (26 miles).
The marathon crosses the whole city to show as many landmarks and the ethnic diversity of Los Angeles. Many on-course performances and events are held during the event and there will be live music, dancing, arts and crafts, food and more.
Further there will be a 5 K run / walk for the whole family during the event and also the Acura Bike Tour, where around 15.000 cyclists are led by a team of celebrities, will take over the closed to traffic streets of Los Angeles.
As the date of the event, usually held in the beginning of March, changes every year please refer to the website for exact information and timetable.
