My Trip to Covent Gardens
[

, 18/02/2007] I went to London with my school in November 2006 and I thouroghly enjoed it. There were many exceptional shops and attractions but none as brilliant as Covent Gardens. They offer lots of excellent products at low prices. The best thing I bought was a giant gob-stopper. I was really chuffed with it as I didn't finish it for 5 weeks and it only cost me a pound which was a real bargin. The only major bad thing was the fact that I had to report to my teacher every 5 minutes to tell him we hadn't gotten lost or kidnapped or robbed etc. which was annoying as every time I was in a shop looking at so

Covent Garden - My Fair Lady

, 23/09/2005] The call of Covent Garden may well be the My Fair Lady scenes, for me it was, but for whatever reason you visit there is lots to see and experience, day or night. Senses are stimulated here, sight, sound, smell are all on high alert. It's all a bit of an experience getting there, via tube, bus or on foot. When I first arrived in London I headed to Covent Garden, one of the oldest parts of London, and since then I've been many times and take all my overseas visitors there. Getting there by train is your first taste of something different. On arriving at the tube station there is a s

, 10/08/2005] So, you are spending the day in London but for whatever reason you have done "the major tourist sights" and can't see the difference between shopping in Oxford Street and at your out of town mall (other than the fact that it is easier to park, inside, less crowded, more compact but has the same shops). What do you do? You could do worse than head to that area of London called Covent Garden. Covent Garden is possibly one of the most ill-defined areas of London. Most people think only of the market when they hear the name but in truth the area spreads further than that, out to Leicester Squar

A Lonely Plant Guide to Covent Garden
Date published: May 2007
Author: Laetitia Clapton
Travel guide extract
This "elegant piazza" was London's "first planned square". The place was transformed during the 1980s into one of the London's "grooviest hubs". The author describes it as a "tourist mecca" that is home to "restaurants, souvenir shops, balconied bars and street entertainers". Covent Garden "positively heaves in summer, especially weekends".
