The writer's telling us the park is at 142 hectares and that you'll have to "allow yourselves plenty of time to explore".

"Many sporting activities" are provided she says eg. "swimming/paddling in the Serpentine lake" and "tennis, bowls and horse riding". The writer is also saying you can "do your own thing" such as "bring a ball and a picnic".
