The author describes Buckingham Palace, which is "one of London's most popular attractions", as being a "massive, graceful building ". The author gives some history of the Palace and states that it was originally "built as a country house for the notoriously rakish Duke of Buckingham" so it didn't become "the official royal residence" until Queen Victoria decided "she preferred it to St. James's Palace".

Buckingham Palace is located "in a 40-acre (16-hectare) garden" and is "354 feet (108m) long". Inside the Palace there are "600 rooms".

The author continues with the article and states that "for most of the year, you can't visit the palace without an official invitation" but since 1993, "much of it has been opened for tours during an 8-week period in August and September" because this is when the Royal Family are on holiday away from London.

The author concludes by saying "you can avoid the long queues for Buckingham Palace tours by purchasing tickets before" you arrive.
