[Jamie73, 31.07.2007] The author talks about the National Gallery explaining it is a "stately neoclassical building" containing "an unrivaled collection of Western art spanning 7 centuries." In the authors opinion this museum "surpasses its counterparts in Paris, New York, Madrid, and Amsterdam" for its "sheer skill of display and arrangement."

Speaking of the various displays, we are informed the "largest part of the collection is devoted to the Italians", this section was "opened by Queen Elizabeth II in 1991."

Darwin Porter speaks about the displays describing them in some detail, giving information about the works of art featured here. He states, it is like "spying through a keyhole."

You can take a guided tour of the gallery, these are "are offered twice daily, with an extra tour on Wednesday."

The author concludes by saying inside the Gallery there is a "computer information center" where you can "design your own personalized tour."

Frommers give this attraction a three star rating which means it is exceptional.
