The Lonely Planet Guide introduces us to British Museum, claiming of it to have " began as a simple 18th-century 'cabinet of curiosities' ", whereas it is now considered to be "one of the world's most comprehensive and popular museums". The guide then lists the "best-known exhibits", including "the best collection of mummies outside Egypt", and "the Rosetta Stone". The Great Court has been "refurbished", letting "lots of wonderful light" through its " circular glass-and-steel ceiling", which "radiates" from the "former British Library", where "Karl Marx wrote Das Kapital".
