[1krispy1, 07.08.2007] Captain Kait rates his visit on HMS Belfast as four of five stop signs. Moving toward the ship on the floating pathway he "realized that this was no ordinary museum". As she is "moored in the Thames", the ship may be "easily overlooked for bigger, grander landmarks" the city center of London is known for, such as "St. Paul's and Tower Bridge". When Captain Kait finally gets up close and personal, the light cruiser "from the Royal Navy that served in World War II" is "quite impressive". It was with surprise they found "we were allowed to tour what seemed to be a majority of the ship". Instead of just walking about reading plaques to learn about, for example the guns, he "hopped into one of the gun turrets and swung around the barrel". In another room a set up "following the ships service history" was presented, a sort of museum in a museum.

During the self guiding tour, along narrow, steep stairs and passageways, they "came across life sized figures posed mid action in their duties". He notes "while on HMS Belfast, its easy to lose track of time".
