The author, Jon Bentham, appeared to be apprehensive about his stay at WakeUp! but "ended up spending an enjoyable night at a truly unique hotel". After discovering the "fluorescent backdrops and photos of tanned twentysomethings" as he entered, he was "shocked to find genuinely affable staff".
