Darwin Porter starts by saying that the Savoy is "not as swank as the Dorchester", but quickly adds that it is, however, "the premier hotel in the Stand/Covent Garden area" of London. He says that "each room is individually decorated" and that the rooms contain "an eclectic blend of antiques". Forty-eight of the hotel's rooms have "their own sitting rooms". The beds which are handmade have "top-of-the-line crisp linen fabrics" and "the bathrooms are spacious, with deluxe toiletries". Porter advises that the best rooms are the new ones with views ove the River Thames - "the vistas are the best in London" and that these are also "the most sought after". Frommers Guide also lists the hotel as having five restaurants, two bars, a health club, spa and sauna amongst other facilities. The rooms have air conditioning,a television set, a minibar and a safe amongst their facilities.
