The Dorchester: modern and luxurious
The Dorchester Hotel "was hailed as the most modern and luxurious hotel in London" from the day it opened in 1931 and it was totally refurbished in the late eighties, which has ensured that it has remained this way. According to the author, the Dorchester, situated in Mayfair, broke with tradition when it was built in 1931 from "reinforced concrete clothed in terrazzo slabs".
