Although "not the most glamorous" or the "most fashionable", the author considered the Connaught, in the heart of Mayfair, to be one of Europe's "most prestigious". Its "flowers, chandeliers and Wedgwood" suggest an old "aristocratic county house" and its hospitality is "legendary". Its "guarantee of privacy" attracts film stars and heads of state, whilst returning guests often "demand their favourite rooms". Guest rooms vary "from medium to large", are "tastefully" furnished with marble fireplaces and chintz and have "sumptuous" beds with the "finest linens". The "old-fashioned bathrooms" are large and have "deep" tubs. The hotel promises two restaurants, two bars and 24 hour room service. It also offers a variety of other facilities, including a spa and health club, business centre and courtesy car. Frommers rates The Connaught "exceptional" and "very expensive" ($$$$)
