[Fritzthecat, 04.10.2006] The writer classifies this hotel as being "elegant", with its location being described as "in the heart of Mayfair" and generally as being one of the most "prestigious" hotels in Europe. Although he admits that the Connaught is neither the "most glamorous" hotel in London, nor the "most fashionable" one, the author explains this classification as "it coddles you in comfort and luxury".
The hospitality in this hotel is described as being "legendary" and its atmosphere as being " a world of fresh flowers, crystal chandeliers, Wedgewood and antiques", reminding of "an English country house". With "repeat guests, demanding their favourite rooms" it bears a resemblance to "a club" and the writer states that it has" something of an aura of aristocratic decay".
The room sizes are being described as a range from "medium" to "large" and are decorated to create "a world of antiques, chintz and tasteful details", with the dressing of the beds being " sumptuous" in "finest Irish linen". These details, together with "marble fireplaces, ornate plasterwork and oak panelling", give the rooms an allure which the author describes as "stately". Bathrooms are described as being "large" and "old fashioned", yet "still intact" and are "outfitted with deep tubs and robes".
