[20/09/2010] Ali Howard, in her "Quick getaway" column for the Sunday Herald magazine, recounts a weekend away in one of her favorite places, London. Thanks to the Bloomsbury's "At Your Leisure" package, which she considers as a "great deal for out-of-towners", she had all her time to enjoy the "prime central location" near Oxford Street, a free cocktail, a "full English breakfast" and was also given a guide book of London. She felt that for the "exceptional standard" of this hotel, the £155 she paid was "cracking" value.
Onto the hotel itself, she remarks on its "contemporary" (but not "too slick") style and its "relaxed and friendly" ambiance whilst remaining "classy". These comments also apply to the restaurant and bar with their "sophisticated, moody ambiance". They had "possibly the best" steak and chips she had tasted for dinner.
The "small details" found at the Bloomsbury were, however, what she "really loved". The toiletries, for instance, were "the highest quality" she had seen in any hotel. The doorman was happy to indicate places to visit and to show her the way to reach them on the map.
For her there is nothing better than to be "at the heart of things" moments after leaving the hotel and, thanks to the "unhurried" late checkout, be able to enjoy "a lie-in" the following day.
