Travel guide extract
[daylelisahall, 23.09.2007] The Academy London "boasts reasonable rate(s) that make it a firm favourite with many visitors" and we are told that this hotel is well named, "with its proximity to London University and the British Museum."
Originally, The Academy was "three Georgian houses" and although it is described as "an old-fashioned building" it has been "brought bang-up-to-date."
Inside the hotel, the service is "efficient and friendly" and there are public areas that include "The Library Garden and The Conservatory Garden."
The rooms at the hotel "vary in size" and are described as being "pretty with pastel shades and hung with good fabrics." The rooms have "en-suite except in a few singles, and are done in marble" although we are told that some "are very small." Quiet rooms are available and if this is what you like then you are advised to "ask for a bedroom looking over the back."
The article concludes by stating that the hotel owner "has a good eye for paintings, which are hung everywhere" and informing us that "this is a very good place in an excellent location."
