[Newfloridian, 10/08/2006] We stayed for two nights in London recently partly for business; partly for pleasure. As we are Starwood Preferred Guest card holders, we chose to stay at the Sheraton Park Lane Hotel. This hotel is a recently renovated Edwardian building on Piccadilly directly opposite Green Park. It is situated midway between Green Park and Hyde Park Corner underground stations. We arrived in London by train at Kings Cross and took the Victoria line to Green Park (four stops). The Park Lane hotel "overlooking Green Park" was acquired by the Sheraton Corporation in 1996 which "continues to upgrade it". The building has a "quintessential British style" and has been a "most traditional" of mansions since 1924. The author marvels at its "Art Deco" "Silver Entrance" which has often been used "as a backdrop" in films. He believes that the hotel gives "a good deal" for its "luxurious accommodations" in an area where "under $500 a night" is "a bargain".
