This was a comfortable hotel with a friendly and professional staff. The bedroom was a bit drab but the bathroom was modern and functional. Room service food was prompt and good.

The bedroom was ok although I could not find any sign of the £3 million pound refurbishment which is apparently in progress. The furnishings were a little dull, a little tired. The TV was of the old "fat" variety. Does Mr Marriott have fat TVs in house? I would doubt it so why does he still provide them in his hotels? Plenty of drawer and cupboard space. Lighting was poor with those nasty energy-saving lightbulbs with that weird flourescent glow. Small bathroom but really modern and functional with two bathmats, one for the basin one for the bath (a peice of logic that seems to escape most hotels in this price bracket). My room was on the first floor so no view to speak of, just a quiet London side street. The £15 charge for internet access was outrageous. Hotels should be made by law to reveal in advance what they charge for interent access upfront and in bold type so that visitors can comapre charges. £15 was rank profiteering. Having said that the internet access was quick, fast, reliable and wi-fi as well as wired so full marks for that. I did not apprecaite being charged for my Fniancial Times which I thought was a bit petty.

The lobby has clearly been remodelled and is spacious and bright. The front desk was excellent, a friendly and fast check-in and check-out. The Concierge desk too was helpful. There seemed to be plenty of staff on hand to assist including some senior managerial types which was assuring.

I had a room service late supper and very early breakfast. Both were fine: the order came correctly and promptly and the quality was satisfactory.

This hotel is very well located only 5 minutes by cab from Paddingto Station,
five minutes walk from Marble Arch and within easy reach of London's West End.
It is located in a small side street off the Edgware Road so is quiet by London
standards.
