Introduction Before I begin I'd just like to point out that this review is strictly on the afternoon teas at Claridges and not on any other aspect of the hotel. Art Deco grande dame
Claridge's "first opened its doors in 1854", and is today, as "splendid" as it was then. "A true grande dame" Lonely Planet says of this "majestic" hotel. Claridge's, a "once-fading 1812 beauty", has been transformed into the place to live "in the total lap of luxury". The author notes that even after "extensive" renovations the best of the 1930s "Art Deco style" remains.
