[more]The Church of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, also known as the Brompton Oratory, is the second largest catholic church in London and can be found in South Kensington, directly next to the Victoria and Albert Museum.
The church was built according to the design of Herbert Gribble in between 1880 and 1884 and has a nave that exceeds even the nave of St Paul's Cathedral in size.
Its 200 ft high cupola was added in 1885 and the Church of the Immaculate Heart of Mary was the largest catholic church London until Westminster Cathedral was consecrated in 1903.
The church is closely connected to the London Oratory School and the boy's choir of the London Oratory School Schola sings every Saturday at the 6pm mass during school terms.
