[martanikolova, 11/01/2012] This is really something! One of the most beautiful bridges I have seen with very interesting architecture and magnificent looks. It is no accident it has become of of the symbols of London. It is especially beautiful at night with amazing lights, which bring additional majestic feeling to the bridge. I can't say much more about it, because I only saw it passing by a couple of times (I was in London for a business trip and didn't have much time to walk around), but I will surely go there again some day!

Tower Bridge, which was completed in 1894, is one of London's "great" landmarks. Built of steel (with 2 million rivets) its stone facing is "only for show". Its bascules, the "arms" of the bridge are raised and lowered for shipping "hundreeds of times a year". During her visit, which started with videos of the history of the bridge, the author found things to interest both adults and children. The bridge was designed to rise and allow ships to pass by, and although this is now done electronically, the "original steam engines" can still be seen. The northern tower can easily be accessed by lift from the "modern visitors' facility". The entrance fee is noted at £5.50 for both adults and children.
