, 17/01/2012] This is a unique building with an amazing architecture and wonderful details. This building is one of the most impressive ones I have ever seen. The building with its elements, standing next to the river - this is a scenery everyone should see. All I could say while watching it was "WOW". It really made an impression on me. It is located in the central part of London (in Westminster) and we reached the place using the underground. I was able to see it at night and it was magnificent.

Stunning rooms inside the British Parliament

, 17/12/2010] During my weekend escapade in London in September 2007, I had the opportunity to visit the Houses of Parliament. The Parliament is open to the public every year when the session is on recess from 31 July to 29 September, and during Saturdays in all year round. But if you are interested to attend various debates and public committee sessions, it is open to everyone with prior ticket bookings, or join the public queue few hours before the session begins. Since I was a student, I got a discounted price of £8 (from £12), but for kids (aged 5-15) is £5, and family (2 adults + 2 kids) for £30. Th

, 01/06/2010] As you walk along the river Thames, your eyes began to be magnetically drawn away from the huge imposing cityscape... instead they become fixed on the glittering, golden spires of the Houses of Parliament, such iconic buildings and yet their magnificence cannot be truly felt until you are standing beneath them looking up... It is then that you come to realise your central postion in one of the most influential metropolises in the world. You could stand for hours just gazing at the tiny intricacies that make up these buildings... that is until you are rudely awakedned by the 'dong' of Big Ben,

Houses of Parliament and Big Ben reviewed by Frommers
Date published: Aug 2006
Author: Darwin Porter
Article
The author talks about the Houses of Parliament and Big Ben and describes them as being "the ultimate symbols of London." This used to be "the king's residence until Henry VIII moved to Whitehall." Inside the building there are "more than 1,000 rooms and 1 3 / 4 miles (3km) of corridors." Describing the Clock Tower, Big Ben, he states that the name does not refer to "the clock tower itself, but to the largest bell in the chime, which weighs close to 14 tons." Darwin Porter writes that you can "observe debates for free from the Stranger's Galleries in both houses" and that your "chances of

The Palace of Westminster
Date published: Jan 2006
Author: Brown, Jackum, et al
Travel guide extract
The Houses of Parliament is the outcome of the "rebuilding of the old palace", the Palace of Westminster after its second devastation from fire in 1834. It was originally "built by Edward the Confessor". The author further explains the palace became the "seat of government". The place was redesigned by "Sir Charles Barry and AWN Pugin" into a "fabulous Gothic Revival complex". The authors explains it is "an instantly recognizable landmark of London" where "entry is free" and it is open "throughout the week" for everyone to "watch the business of the House of Commons and the House of Lords".
