[more]Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese is generally accepted as the oldest pub in London. It was destroyed by the Great Fire in 1666, but was rebuilt in 1667.
Cheese is located on Fleet Street, which in itself is famous for being the home of the British Press, so it comes as no surprise to find that Cheese has had many famous patrons over the years such as Dr Johnson (one of the most quoted English writers, after Shakespeare) & Charles Dickens (who originally started out as a Fleet Street Journalist).
Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese is just a short walk from Blackfriars underground and overland station. All major credit cards are accepted.
