[weetoon, 08/12/2007] Although Arran has a tradition of whisky making, this new distillery is the first example of legally produced whisky on the island. It is a newcomer on the whisky scene, as it only opened in 1995. As such, the visit is perhaps not as quaint or picturesque as it might be at other distilleries. But the visitor centre was purpose built, and for this reason the visit follows a logical thread. I was a little disappointed however not to actually see anyone working in the place, perhaps it was the wrong time of year, but our guide was very interesting and more than happy to answer questions.
