[micksheff, 28/12/2011] The Cavern Club in Liverpool is synonymous with The Beatles and during their early career they played here almost 300 times, with their last performance on 3rd August 1963, shortly before they went on to conquer the world. Today it is a major tourist attraction in the city and was on my list of places that I wanted to visit whilst I was in Liverpool last summer. The club is situated on Mathew Street right in the city centre and its well sign posted so even if you find yourself in Liverpool for the first time you shouldn’t have to embarrass yourself by asking someone “Do you know where the Cave

It was quite a long journey for us from Newcastle but easy to find and so there were no arguments! Apart from being unable to find the actual safari once we had entered the park, it was an easy journey.
The actual safari is good fun and the children (and adults) thoroughly enjoyed seeing the animals at close quarters and uncaged. Safety seemed to be paramount and there were plenty of employees willing to talk to visitors and answer any questions.
There is plenty to do for all ages and it really is a full day out.
[MGLondon44, 10/09/2011] The hotel was beautifully photographed on the website so I had high expectations before my arrival. My first impressions did not disappoint; the brick factory-like exterior revealing the history of this redeveloped area. Inside the lobby is a perfect fusion of original features e.g. exposed brick, and ultra-modern e.g. projected art. The reception staff were immediately welcoming, quickly checking me in and directing me to my room. The corridors continued the exposed brick theme with the door entry system detecting my access card in a similar way to my London Transport Oyster card. On this rar

[keri_hughes, 22/05/2011] this hotel was absolutely brilliant! diffinitely recommend to anyone. rooms were clean and spacious and had everything you could think of. the staff so were friendly and helpful, the breakfasts were great and a 5 minute walk away from everything.
[Jode, 03/05/2011] A stay at the Malmaison is definitely for the young and fun!
From the moment you walk into the hotel your breath is taken away by the decor and although appears very dark is very well presented and has an immediate Liverpool glamour to it.
The room was a perfect size, small but very well equiped and the decor again was spot on!
The bathroom was to die for with a gorgeous big bath tub and great shower, Tony and Guy hairdrier and all mod cons!
Breakfast was included and was very good for small or big appitites.
Staff were friendly and very keen to help and provided lots of loc

[lawrenceshush, 10/10/2010] I would recommend anyone to come and stay here. It is positioned in the very heart of the city and has the been built to a very high standard. Customer service is also second to none
[micksheff, 08/10/2010] Liverpool has always had a long association with ships so it seems quite appropriate that there should be a maritime museum located at the Albert Docks there, right on the banks of the River Mersey.
The Merseyside Maritime Museum opened in 1980 but was expanded six years later. It occupies one of the old warehouses that stands at the dock and today it shares its location with the International Slavery Museum, which occupies the third floor of the same building. When I was here earlier this year (June 2010) it made sense to visit both of these attractions at the same time, especially consideri

I visited this hotel due to a last minute mistake. My work place was meant to check me in to the Hilton as normal and instead had booked me in to this hotel. As we were at a national conference at the ACC it was too late to alter the mistake and so I had to stay here.
To be completely honest I was not looking forward to it as I love the Hilton in Liverpool and it is so convenient and I had never heard of this hotel before, wow how wrong was I?!
Arriving at the hotel I was utterly surprised as it too was in a brilliant location right near the docks an

[micksheff, 07/08/2010] I’ve always known that Liverpool had two cathedrals. I think it was probably from the Dubliners “In my Liverpool Home which was one of my dad’s favourite songs when I was young. There’s a line in that “If you want a cathedral, we've got one to spare, in my Liverpool home. Having said that I never really considered this to be unusual since my hometown of Sheffield also has two cathedrals, One Anglican and one Roman Catholic just like Liverpool.
Liverpool’s Anglican Cathedral is however pretty spectacular in relation to most other cathedrals and it is actually the largest Anglican cathedral in

[micksheff, 06/08/2010] According to my other half a visit to Liverpool wouldn't be complete without a trip across the Mersey on one of the ferries and I didn't take too much convincing to agree. There have been ferries crossing the short distance from Liverpool to the Wirral peninsula for over 800 years and even today despite the fact that there are now two different tunnels beneath the Mersey these ferries still carry thousands of passengers every year.
There are three different ferries that operate the route all of which are owned by the Merseytravel Company. Originally these vessels were called Woodchurch, Over

[micksheff, 04/08/2010] Liverpool's Catholic Cathedral is known by many different names. Officially it is the Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral of Christ the King, which is often shortened to the Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral. Its modern and somewhat controversial design has however ensured that it has acquired several nicknames including my favourite "Paddy's Wigwam".
There had been three early proposals for a Catholic Cathedral in the city in 1853, 1933 and 1953 but construction of the Cathedral only finally began in 1962 but unlike its Anglican counterpart, which took almost a century to complete, it was finish

[fizzytom, 20/06/2010] Part of a French chain, Formule 1 offers clean basic accommodation in triple rooms. What sets the Liverpool one apart is that it is almost in the city centre whereas many are situated out of town close to motorways and airports.
Check-in is at 5 on weekdays and 3:30pm weekends. You get a printed receipt with a code on it; this is for the front door and for you room door. Don't lose it!
Rooms are on the small side and each has a double bed with a single bunk above it at a right angle. There is a washbasin and vanity shelf in the room along with a colour TV with remote control. There are

[koshkha, 06/12/2009] I hadn't been to Liverpool Airport in over 20 years and I remembers a small, rather shabby little place that was little bigger than a bus station. So when I had to fly from there recently I was quite surprised at how much it had changed.
Liverpool has benefited enormously from the rise in budget airlines and most spectacularly from Ryanair getting into a nasty argument with Manchester Airport that resulted in the Irish airline throwing its dollies out of the pram, cancelling all the flights from Manchester and moving them to Liverpool instead.
I work on the Wirral, the other side of the

[drgloria, 02/12/2009] These are apartments with full reception and security service which are ideally located in the new Liverpool One complex. You walk out the door and across to the John Lewis store and to a multitude of other shops, restaurants, etc. Across the road is the Albert Dock and just next to it, the new ECHO Arena. Just behind it is the bus service to the airport and both the Lime Street and the downtown train stations are within walking distance. You are also in close proximity to the pedestrianised shopping area in which The Cave (where the Beatles first performed) is located. The apartments the

[susanp, 04/11/2009] We really enjoyed our stay at Bridpoint Apartments, my husband booked as a surprise and I can't fault the accommodation. All of the staff were really helpful. Reception wasn't manned all of the time but it was easy to contact Rebecca whenever we needed anything. I'd definitely recommend these apartments and we have already booked to stay again in February.
[sjohno2504, 21/07/2009] We stayed at the Devonshire House Hotel and found it to be located in beautiful gardens, the receptionist was warm and freindly, the rooms were light and recently refurbished.
Breakfast was plentiful and staff were freindly too.
Would reccommend this hotel.
[ceirys, 07/07/2008] The cathedral dominates and yet sits well within the City. The exterior is awesome (in every sense) but the interior is the jewel in the crown. Stained glass fills every space possible and is of every hue imaginable, the effect is of being cradled within a prism of light. Sean Rice's stations of the cross and Abraham deserve special mention, love them or hate them, they are powerful images rendered in Gilt bronze by a Liverpool lad. I found the Amnesty chapel and simple imagery of a candle in barbed wire particularly moving. A wonderful place of Peace and contemplation. Don't miss the Lutyens

[Juleshobs, 29/05/2008] Mersey Ferries have a long an coloured history over the last 850 years when there was a river crossing service operated by local monks from Birkenhead Priory. Today we have a regular comuter service and tourist attraction that is far more than just the Ferries themselves.
There are 3 Ferry terminals in operation today, these are located in Seacombe, Birkenhead Woodside (these are both on the Wirral side or the River) and the Pier Head (Liverpool side of the River), However, at present the Pier head is not operational and the ferries are operating out of a temporary landing stage located at

[frankiecesca, 18/11/2007] Knowsely safari park is one of my favourite place to go every single year and is a great day out for everybody and anybody who loves animals.
The park is open is open all year except Christmas day and is only closed otherwise due to bad weather conditions. The park has summer and winter opening times and these are 10am - 4pm in the summer (1st March-31st of October) and 10.30am - 3pm winter (1st November to 28th February)
The best times to go I would recommend is late summer when it's not as buty as main school holidays but still warm or in spring when all the animals would have new litt
