The author describes this "first-class" hotel as being "showcased in an austere high-rise" that reminds one of "the bow of a great luxury liner", He goes on to rate the hotel as being one the best in the city alongside the Britannia-Adelphi and suggests that it "caters largely to business travelers". There is a "spacious lobby" and bedrooms that are "well-furnished but fairly standard". Some bedrooms, although "quite small", - "provide views of the River Mersey".
