[Praskipark, 24/10/2011] Introduction to the Palace
Next door to St George’s Castle in Lisbon is a building that wasn’t damaged by the Great Earthquake in 1755. Its name, Palacio Belmonte; a 15th century palace that lost its shine and grandeur until a few years ago when it had a new facelift and was restored to its original beauty. Its walls are very old made from very thick bricks and have been lovingly whitewashed to give it a clean crisp look. Hand painted blue and white tiles (azulejos) add a splash of colour to the ancient walls and as you step across the wide wooden floor the only sound you hear will be the cre

[guest_Pensao-Residen, 07/10/2011] the hotel was fine, nice rooms and in the third floor with a nice view over lisbon. also breakfast was fine. would stay there again
[bilbil, 27/09/2011] Hotel is in a perfect location, staff is very friendly, but do not speak English. Very communicative otherwise, the language is not a problem.
The advertised internet in the entire hotel is not there, there is wireless connection only at the lobby.
They do not accept payments with cards, which is written in a sign at the reception desk, IN PORTUGUESE :)
I imagine the breakfast would not be enough for a male.
I would recommend this hotel as a very cheap and nice option, especially because of the location.
[guest_Marques-de-Pom, 08/08/2011] We enjoyed our short stay in Lisbon: the hotel is very well located (underground just outside the entrance, the whole Avenidade de Liberdade at walking distance). The staff was very nice and welcoming; the room was OK. Hope to be back!
[bigmutt, 19/06/2011] When you read the reviews here (going back 3 or 4 previous years) you get the sense that the "glory days" for this place are behind them.
Many of the 2009 reviews, for example, talk of "sumptuous" breakfasts, with big trays of bacon, eggs, etc. and good fruit juices and coffees.
Now fast-forward to 2010 and 2011 and read the breakfast comments: "depressing", "slow", "miserable", "barely adequate", "the low point of our stay".
Do hotels realize that breakfasts, especially at these prices, are important to some of their guests? I guess not, or they would put a little more effort into ensuri

[angel_strife, 19/04/2011] I've stayed in Hotel Marques de Pombal last year, and all I have to say is.. Perfect! The hotel is in the centre of Lisboa, in Liberdade's Avenue. It has a metro station right in front of the hotel, that can take you anywhere in Lisboa.
Upon our arrival, all the staff was great. They parked our car and in reception they were very nice. The room was great (not very big) but great. The decorration was all new (the hotel, not long time ago was repaired), and refreshing. The View (to the avenue), was very nice and I was a little scared, because I know that there's a lot of traffic.. And it starts

[djodjo, 19/04/2011] Just 2 min away from the underground station is this very fashion hotel. Paid parking is available in the hotel's garage, though it is possible you find a free place nearby. The breakfast is very nice and the staff is very much friendly.
[guest_As-Janelas-Ver, 12/04/2011] Excellent hotel near by / walking distance to the city center. The service was perfect and the breakfast variety just nice. We very much enjoined the old-fashioned style and the library / balcony in the 3rd floor. Even if I like the idea of the "my bar" I have to admit that the prices for this self-service concept are quite expensive. However we will love to come back once.
[tomson2101, 08/02/2011] Another great Hotel, the location is just perfect, at the Oriente you have access to several city transportation like the Underground or the bus terminal. Very confortable hotel and the area is beautiful by the river. The only negative thing I had on my visit to the Olissippo was parking it was very tight and relatively expensive.
[tomson2101, 13/01/2011] I stayed at the VIP Arts in Oriente Lisbon, although it has gotten a little run down lately. You can tell that they haven't renovated the hotel since it was made. The rooms are ok and clean, they even have some unique details, although when you look closely, maintenance is urgently needed to improve visitors satisfaction.
The good thing about it is that it's close to everything, a walk from the Underground and easy access for cars. I'd stay their again, but would not be my top pic.
[ursron, 14/07/2010] A very clean and comfortable place to stay. Staff very willing to please. Breakfast is top quality food with a wide range of choice. large rooms at the front (don't know what others are like) Evening meals and drinks, 5 star prices, but plenty of places nearby to dine well. Hotel with a nice bit of charm. Metro stations nearby so its easy to get around the city. Downside being, to be a genuine 5 star, the rooms should have tea and coffee making facility.
[worldtraveller, 11/06/2010] I had an amazing stay at the Tiara Park. The staff were very friendly and polite and the room (standard double room) was more than I expected. It wasn't too small, or too big and was very clean. I didn't try out the hotel restaurant as the prices were very high, but the location of the hotel meant that we were able to easily get into centre of Lisbon by walking, which was the best way to get to know the city. If I return to Lisbon I would definitely stay at this hotel again!
[pbcnini, 01/06/2010] Very good location (metro station just avcross the road and only 4 stations away from historic centre), walking distance to huge department store El Corte Ingles and good restaurants (Colina is an excellent restaurant with tipical portuguese cuisine and is only 5 minutes walking form the hotel), good facilities & services, excellent staff friendly & helpfull. If we visit Lisbon again we will stay there and will recommend it to our friends. Thank you!
[resy, 20/02/2010] although I think it was a bit overpriced I really liked this place
I loved the dolphin / sea lion show, it was almost perfectly made, although I didn't understood the portuguise humor
The rest of the zoo was not that big, but I loved the cages where almost all of the animals had lots of toys and werent too small so they weren't as psychotic as you see in many other zoo's
I didn't use the tivoli in the front of the zoo
[resy, 20/02/2010] one of the best places to get a nice view over the city
There is a guy in the casle who has a lot of cats and peacocks which can be seen all over the castle, that certainly gives a nice atmosphere
[resy, 20/02/2010] interesting architecture in a beutiful quater of lisbon, it is worth a visit
[resy, 20/02/2010] Very cosy little authentic portuguise café with a very friendly owner close to Casa dos Bicos
[resy, 20/02/2010] very cool made, with one main aquarium in the middle that follows you on the whole tour
The glass in the main aquarium is made so you almost feel you can touch the fishes when they swim close to it
The otters was extremely cute
[resy, 20/02/2010] the most authentic sightseeing in the charming old part of the city
Remember to get off on the tour for a walk to find the real gems
