, 20/02/2010] one of the best places to get a nice view over the city There is a guy in the casle who has a lot of cats and peacocks which can be seen all over the castle, that certainly gives a nice atmosphere

Jon Lusk recommends the Castelo de Sao Jorge in Lisbon as the ideal place to "escape the mayhem" of the city. It's the "highest" point in the city and a "surprisingly peaceful" place for a "gentle stroll" around the ramparts of the fort. There are pine treas, peacocks and "stone lions" plus a variety of towers from which to sample the "panoramic vistas" of the city and the river Tagus. BA High Life Mag Jan 2007 pg 19

On the site of what was a "Visigothic fortification" (circa 5 A.D.), Saint George's Castle is considered by many to be "where the Portuguese capital began" and has walls which were mainly "erected during the centuries of Moorish domination". It is noted that the castle ramparts offer "the finest view of the Tagus and the Alfama". Nearby also is the Castle Belvedere and a "sector that appears almost medieval", whilst the square boasts "a heroic statue" of Afonso Henríques.
