Frommers sees the Metropole as the "most centrally located hotel in town" which makes it a good choice for every purpose (sightseeing, cultural events, restaurants or business). The hotel building dates back to 1900 with "many 1920s Art Deco appointments" in the public areas. The "freshly painted" guest rooms are evaluated as "cozy" but are not of common size (sizes "varies a lot"). The beds are "firm" and the furniture is in traditional style (reproductions), the bathrooms very clean ("neatly kept"). The hotels is not as stylish as some other but it has "plenty of comfort" as well as some "top-flight views" out of many rooms. The location is very "central" directly on the Rossio, "the very heart of Lisbon". The bedding is "comfortable" and all rooms are furnished in an "attractive antique-style".
